Exploring Observational Drawing and Painting with Value.

This was a project that was done about 2 months ago. I was really eager to break out the acrylic paint with my students and begin their basic intro to painting. We had been practicing observational drawing, and looking a space and various forms of geometry the week before, so I thought they were ready to take this on.

We went over their initial observations about where they wanted to sit and what kind of perspective they would be getting from the still life. It took 1 session for them to get their drawing down on their

card stock. The whole unit took about 4 sessions all together. Some of them really got the idea and the science behind creating value. Not bad for third grade!
