

Paleolithic Cave Painting
The third grade had been learning about habitats and adaptation across their science and UOS curriculum so I thought it would be great to supplement those objectives with a unit on pigment making process. We examined and discussed various examples of paleolithic cave paintings from the Lascaux Caves in France and pulled on information that they already knew about habitats and adaptation. Exploring Observational Drawing and Painting with Value.
This was a project that was done about 2 months ago. I was really eager to break out the acrylic paint with my students and begin their basic intro to painting. We had been practicing observational drawing, and looking a space and various forms of geometry the week before, so I thought they were ready to take this on.
