Ramblings about Teaching Art by Prisilla Siregar
About Me
Hello, my name is Prisilla Siregar and I am a Visual Arts educator. My arts background comes from New York City where I received my Art Education Masters Degree from Pratt Institute. I spent an additional 2 years in New York City teaching Visual Arts, design and robotics to various primary public and private schools. I also worked with an outreach art program there that focused on special populations and underserved youth from ages 4 to 9. My teaching has lead me to Cambodia, and Vietnam where I taught for 10 years. I have spent the last 3 years teaching K-5 visual arts, in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.
I am a life long learner and I draw inspiration not only from the materials and the techniques I work with, but also from my students. As an IB educator I am continuously appreciative of the whimsy and perspectives my students share in their classroom learning. As an educator it is my hope to teach students to maintain openness to new perspectives, see connections, and continue the mindset of being lifelong learners.
